FedEx to Test 100% Electric Nissan e-NV200 [in Japan]

TreeHugger -- Electric vehicles do best in the city, and the lower speeds and frequent stops (good for regenerative braking) and predictable routes would give them huge benefits over gas or diesel vehicles.

That's what I've been saying since Hybrids first came out. EV will be even better. About time for this to happen.

Both FedEx, and UPS have been using EV vehicles in different markets already. It's nice to see them test drive the Nissan version to compare to the vehicles their using now.

Somebody has to go first, and it shouldn't be the government. If FedEx can utilize electrics where they make sense (local city deliveries), others are sure to follow - although they may choose CNG, Propane or Hydrogen for their fuel source.

I always thought heavy vehicles (buses, garbage trucks, fire engines) would be a logical first choice because the battery weight is not such a significant factor.
